For the Love of Cooking!!

I was sitting at home tonight, and couldn't help but indulge in my craving for one of the first things I learned to bake.

Believe it or not.... before there were cupcakes, I made cookies, cookies, and more cookies, hence how I earned the nickname "Cookie Monster." Unfortunately, the cookbook that my standard recipe is from (For the Love of Cooking) is currently at my mom's house and has been falling apart since before my first batch, which was when I was like 6. :) And since I didn't have it, and it was too late to call mom, I had to settle for the Better Homes and Gardens recipe which is a little too sweet for my taste, but fortunately, it doesn't make near as many cookies as my usual variety. Peanut butter cookies just aren't as good unless they're covered in table sugar. MMM.....

They made me feel a little more at home when I was feeling a little lonely on a Saturday night. I'm determined that I will NOT spend next Saturday night on my couch!

While my cookies were in the oven I caught the opening dance of America's Best Dance Crew: Champions for Charity on MTV. And when the only female champions made their way out onto the stage I burst into laughter when their costumes looked remarkably familiar.Their sneaks are even bedazzled like my tap shoes... :)

Click little clip for a laugh! :)

Stock photos a la Amber and Sarah

I've been on a roll the past two days in designing our materials for the Annual Meeting, which is quickly approaching! This afternoon at about 3:30 I ran in Amber's office and said I have a project for you!!

Why would she pass up tearing up FNRA raffle tickets and making our own stock images!?

I think the shot above is the one! I'm going to use it for my Flip Ticket poster. I love the shadows of the pillars and the white space will be perfect for my text.

Then after picture #201934 (I'm exaggerating, but it was a lot!), Amber turned the camera on me as I was so excited about our little project. haha!

The pillars were just screaming for me to use my macro settings on my personal camera, so that I did! And the results:

It was a fun Friday afternoon!!

By the way, on the inside, I'm SCREAMING at Facebook as it won't show up on either of my browsers, and I can't look at it at work. Thank heavens for my bberry!!

xoxo! Happy Weekend!

A sty in my eye and a burger piled high

Despite the fact that I eat as many carrots as the average bunny does... I have a sty. Even though you can't actually see the sty in the picture I thought it was to boring to include a post about my sty with no picture of my eye. Anybody ever found it funny that sty and eye rhyme?! :)

The pain is not funny, though. In fact, it's quite annoying. It's been building for days now, this constant little pain like I scratched my eye too hard or something, then this evening once I remove my eye makeup I saw it plain and clear. BOOO! Shoo sty, don't bother me! Sorry... I couldn't resist the play on words. :)

On a different note, a milestone occurred in the calories world today if you haven't already heard. Drumroll please....

KFC launched it's new sandwich the "Double Down." This thing is just BAD news!

It's two large fried boneless chicken breasts sandwiching together bacon, cheese, and a special sauce. Talk about awful for you!! Although, it's like my co-worker said today, it's not that unusual for a guy to eat two chicken pieces out of the bucket, what's a little cheese and bacon going to hurt. I tell you what it hurts... my legs after having to run the thing off!

This infamous sandwich sparked the conversation about another infamous sandwich at lunch today with Mike and Luke (the girls had gone for Bubble Tea, which i decided not to partake in): the Luther Burger, named after it's "creator," R&B singer, Luther Vandross. I just can't get over this one... (and this comes from the girl that LOVES KK Doughnuts)....

A bacon cheeseburger with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts substituted for the patties. I mean, yes, as Mike said, sweet and salty do go well together often, but this? THIS is a little extreme. I just don't get it. And this was the original photo I found to show us what it was at lunch on my bberry:

How am I even supposed to eat that?!?! I'm not. It shouldn't have been made, and it definitely should not have the cult following it does! Bad idea Luther, stick to writing wedding songs! Yuck, yuck, and YUCK!

Would you eat it? The Double Down maybe, but the Luther Burger? Who's in?

The Sunday Paper

Mom and I used to always read the Life&Style section of the newspaper on Sunday afternoons to see who got married to who, who died, and what John Rosen had to say. I guess in some ways blogging is the new Life&Style section for so many of us. Reading and/or writing to find out the who, what and where of life. So here's your bi-weekly dose of what's going on in my life. :) I'm trying to get better and make it daily or every other day, but I'm strugglin'.

Pink, pink, and more... boys? Friday I attended the baby shower of our Division Director's wife, Ashley. The funny thing about it, though, was that although the 2nd floor multipurpose had been transformed into a world of pink, the majority of the attendees were male, and it was the first time attending a baby shower for many of them. Before we all left to go to the shower, Jeremy asked what all we'd be doing to take up the 2.5 hours of our day slotted "Baby Shower," when I mentioned games he was like, "Games, what games?" I just laughed when 2 hours later he was one of the ones getting into the games. It was too funny sitting at the table with all these macho, gun-toting men wearing pink pacifiers around their necks and playing nursery rhyme trivia.

This was one of the cutest presents (although maybe not extremely practical). Where the wild things are!! Isn't it precious?! The room burst into laughter when someone suggested they might need to stitch "Daddy, don't shoot me" on the animal costume.
I don't know who put Kyle in charge of cutting the cake, but these were the "Small" pieces Melissa and I asked for. Yeah... not small by our standards. This is our "sorority" pose that we posed for per Amber's beckoning with the department camera.

With Spring babies there are beautiful spring flowers. These gorgeous tulips have been tempting my camera for a week now as I drive in and out of HQ, but Friday I finally couldn't help myself!! They were beautiful!
I love tulips. They are one of my all time faves. Sunflowers are my #1 though, in case anyone ever needs to know. :)

Saturday evening we were supposed to have office team-building laser tag, but when "office" turned into 5, and laser tag turned into 13 year old playhouse, we changed our plans for an evening of cosmic bowling.
I'm getting better, but I'm still pretty awful.
(One thing I learned from this bowling experience... these jeans are going in the giveaway pile because they are awfully unflattering!)

The last game we ended up getting bumpers, and it was required that you to hit the bumper for the bowl to count, which is actually a little tricky. Somehow Nick still seemed to dominate. Oh well, I guess I'll keep practicing.

I got out-blogged by this lady this weekend. So look out for a blog-filled week ahead! :)
